ABOUT MY PRACTICE
Welcome
to my practice. Our goal is to work together to promote wellness and to
strengthen your immune system naturally. Here are some questions I’m
often asked.
How did you
become a homeopath?
I graduated from a 3-year program at the Pacific Academy of Homeopathy
in June 2005. Previously I studied homeopathy for over 20 years and raised
my children using homeopathic self-care for my family. In 2007,
I earned the "CCH" credential, Certified Classical Homeopath,
from the Council
for Homeopathic Certification.
In 2008, I moved my home and practice from Sacramento to the Grass
Valley, CA. area, where I had lived previously and where I had started
my study of homeopathy.
What is the first appointment like?
Homeopathy is a holistic practice. The initial consultation is 2 hours
to allow time to cover your chief complaints and your physical, mental,
and emotional make-up. You will receive an intake
form and a disclosure form ahead of time to fill out and
return prior to or at the time of your first visit.
What happens after the first appointment?
I will need time to study your case. I will contact you when I have determined
a recommended remedy and we can arrange for you to obtain it. Directions
for taking the remedy will be provided.
A follow-up appointment will be scheduled for about 6 weeks
after taking the remedy. If you experience any changes after taking the
remedy, please email me. You can also email me with any questions you
may have. It’s helpful if you write down any changes you notice
after taking a remedy. At the follow-up appointment we will assess the
changes to determine if any remedy changes are needed.
What about
my current prescriptions and my current conventional care?
It’s important to maintain a relationship with your physician. Homeopathic
counseling cannot replace conventional care. Continue with your current
prescriptions and have your physician monitor the amount you are taking.
Your physician may be able to decrease dosage levels as your health improves.
In order for you to
use my services, California state law requires you to sign a disclosure
form acknowledging that I am not a licensed physician and that my services
are not licensed by the state. Under section 2053.5 and 2053.6 of California’s
Business and Professions Code, I can offer you homeopathic consulting
services that are alternative or complementary to healing arts that are
licensed by the state of California.
What about
drinking coffee? I’ve heard it might interfere with the homeopathic
remedy.
This can sometimes happen. I don’t ask clients to avoid coffee or
other substances unless you know, or we find, that you are sensitive to
them. Sometimes if a substance can’t be avoided, I change the dosage
and frequency of the remedy to mitigate the situation.
How long will
I need to continue with homeopathic treatment?
It depends on what your goal is. Some people want relief from a physical
complaint. Others find that homeopathy supports them in emotional and
spiritual growth and want to continue. Some physical complaints are quickly
relieved. Long-standing chronic complaints take longer to cure. The body
prioritizes healing and will heal internal organs before peripheral complaints
such as skin problems or congestion.
